Course Memo

This introductory course utilizes the principles of statics, dynamics and strength of materials in the design of machine elements such as gears, shafts, bearings, springs, clutches and brakes. Topics covered include fatigue, theory of failure, dynamic loading conditions, fasteners and the kinematic motion and control of machine parts and linkages by use of graphical, analytical and computer methods.
