Course Memo

This course will cover the fundamental concepts of mechatronic engineering with emphasis on PLC programming. Topics include introduction to programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and programming languages — Ladder, Block Function Diagram (BFD), Instruction List (IL) and Structured Text (ST), implementation of gate, timer and counter in PLC and industrial automation using PLC. In laboratory, Siemens 300/400 PLC, Step 7 and SIMANTIC programming environments will be practiced. Prerequisite: ELE326.
