Course Memo

This course covers instrument pilot operations required to safely and accurately operate an airplane under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) within the National Airspace System. It includes a study of the operation of airplane flight instruments and navigation equipment, meteorology, Federal Aviation Regulations pertinent to instrument flight, air traffic control procedures, flight physiology and instrument approach procedures. The course also includes preparation for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) instrument rating written examination. A grade of C or better is required to complete this course. The FAA instrument rating written exam must be successfully passed to complete this course unless this course is taken as an elective. In addition, as part of a laboratory experience, students are required to take five hours of simulator training and additional training to prepare for the FAA written exam as needed. Prerequisites: FLT110, FAA private pilot written exam lab fee requred.
